Similar to my private piano lessons, my music theory classes prepares you to read and write any style of music, including Classical, Jazz, R&B, Blues, Gospel, Hip Hop, Pop and more. The great thing about music being an universal language is the fact that all elements of music are connected one way or another. With my music theory classes you’ll learn the basics, fundamentals and musical rules that allows you to create any style of music.

In-Person Classes
This option is ideal if you live in the Delaware County, Pa or Philadelphia, Pa area. My in-person, private music theory classes allows you to receive the care, encouragement and attentiveness you will need to take your musical talents to the next level. I have the great ability to recognize what learning patterns works for every student, which allows me to create a custom lesson plan tailor made to accommodate you.
Online/ Virtual Classes
With this option it’s best if you live out of state or the commute is too far. However, with my online/virtual classes you receive just as much professional coaching, attentiveness and assistance. All of my online, virtual music classes can be completed via:

Prices
Below are the details of how much my private music theory classes cost:
- 1 Hour Lessons = $50
- 45 Minute Lessons = $40
- 30 Minutes Lessons = $30 (Suggested for smaller children ages 5-9 years old)

Studying
Studying is to music theory what practicing is to playing piano or another instrument. With music theory classes you’re not necessarily practicing. You’re studying the same way you would study any subject such as Math and English. The best way to study music theory is to break it up into sections. Meaning, give yourself 10 minutes for sight reading. Then give yourself 20 minutes to work on writing music. With the remaining amount of your lesson completing worksheets and studying examples. The duration for how long you should study your music theory depending on your age is listed below:
- Small Children – Ages 5 to 10 years old = 30 minutes a day, 4 to 5 days a week
- Older Children – Ages 10 to 15 years old = 1 hour a day, 4 days a week
- Teenagers and Adults – 16 years old and up = 2 hours a day with a 10 minute break in between the hours, 5 days a week
*Please note these are tentative times and durations that can be increased or decreased according to one’s skill level, schedule and depending on how fast they want to master music theory.

- What’s the youngest age a person can start learning music theory? – Like most educational subjects the youngest a person can start learning music theory is 5 years old, which is the youngest age I start at. However, the academic level of the classes will vary depending on the age and skill of the student.
- What’s the oldest age a person can be to start learning music theory? – Similar to the playing the piano, you can also start taking music theory classes at any age. It doesn’t matter how old you are. It’s never too late to learn how to read, write and compose music.
- What do you learn in music theory class? – In music theory classes you learn the basics, fundamentals and advanced principles of music. You also learn how to read and write music for any instrument, as well as how instruments relate to one another. An important element I love to incorporate in my music theory classes is how the singing voice relates to all of these elements.
- Does it matter what genre of music I’m interested in to learn music theory? – No it doesn’t. Regardless of what genre of music you like and are interested in learning more about. Music theory teaches you how to read, write and compose all styles of music.
- Will I learn just as much taking virtual classes as I would taking in-person classes? – Yes, the virtual classes are just as effective and professional as my in-person classes. You will receive just as much attention, care and helpful worksheets.
